The #Zen #Art #Book : The Art of #Enlightenment There's something about taking up a pen and making a mark on paper that really concentrates the mind. So if that is how you approach this deceptively simply book, be prepared for something a lot deeper. Traditional Zen art reveals spiritual lessons and ultimate truths: "The mosquito bites the iron bull," "Once a beauty, now a skull," and "In his right hand he holds the knife/ In his left hand, the cat - Speak! Speak!/ Quick as a flash, it's already too late." Think about these - and draw them. This is a wonderful introduction to the art of drawing the quality of the mind.

North Parks Gaining a New Sushi Spot Next Month - Eater San Diego

The prime corner spot at 30th and Upas that has housed a succession of seafood-based restaurants will continue the tradition with !AburiSushi, currently slated to open in early August. Formerly Craft & Sea, and before that #ZenseiSushi , the North Park space is under a new ownership team that also operates two other restaurants where sushi features prominently James Place on the UCSD campus and Mitch's on El Paseo in Palm Desert and is planning to open additional Japanese eateries in East County and the South Bay. Executive chef/partner James Holder is a sushi master; a native of Japan, he's had more than 30 years of sushi-making experience including a long tenure as the lead chef at Cafe Japengo in La Jolla. He'll be joined at Aburi Sushi by Big Mike, another !Japengo chef alum who is well-known to the local sushi community. Traditional nigiri sushi will be the focus here, with some fusion dishes featured. At James' Place, Holder serves ahi poke tacos, salmon carpaccio, and lobster tail and shrimp truffle fried rice

Zen #Brush || #Zen #Art #Supplies

Selecting the right brush, paper and ink is very important for Zen Brush painting. Because you are allowing your own essence to emerge through the brush and onto the paper, this is a very individual matter. It has taken me years to find the brushes I use today. Some cost well over $100. Your brush becomes part of you. I've heard stories of artists burying their old brushes when they can no longer be used.
