The #CampOfTheSaints #Novel

The Camp of the Saints (Le Camp des saints) is a 1973 French #apocalyptic novel by #JeanRaspail . The novel depicts a hypothetical setting whereby #ThirdWorld mass #immigration to #France and the #West led to the #destruction of #Western Civilization. It sparked controversial reactions ranging from prophetic to discriminatory. Almost forty years after publication the book returned to the bestseller list in 2011. ===== No wonder it is now back in the public eye as it was never 'hypothetical' just as #1984Novel was more of a manual for the Powers That Be than a cautionary tale.

#ThirdWorld

The term Third World arose during the Cold War to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO, or the Communist Bloc. The United States, Western European nations and their allies represented the First World, while the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and their allies represented the Second World. This terminology provided a way of broadly categorizing the nations of the Earth into three groups based on social, political, cultural and economic divisions.
