#KarlPopper

Popper is known for his rejection of the classical inductivist views on the #ScientificMethod in favour of empirical falsification: A theory in the empirical sciences can never be proven, but it can be falsified, meaning that it can and should be scrutinised by decisive experiments. If the outcome of an experiment contradicts the theory, one should refrain from ad hoc manoeuvres that evade the contradiction merely by making it less falsifiable. Popper is also known for his opposition to the classical justificationist account of knowledge which he replaced with critical rationalism, "the first non-justificational philosophy of criticism in the history of philosophy

#Zeteticism

Zeteticism is a system of #scientific inquiry. The word is derived from the Greek verb ^IP^I."I"^I-"Io/oo (zeteo), which means "I seek; I examine; I strive for". A zeteticist is a person who practices zeteticism. Zeteticism differs from the usual #ScientificMethod in that using zeteticism one bases his conclusions on experimentation and observation rather than on an initial theory that is to be proved or disproved. A #zetetic forms the question then immediately sets to work making observations and performing experiments to answer that question, rather than speculating on what the answer might be then testing that out.
