Early testing shows that #iPhone app screens more accurately for skin #cancer than doctor

A $500 #dermoscope - a combined magnifying lens and light - will need to be attached to the back of the iPhone in order to do the reading.

The app is currently being evaluated for further testing at the #University of #Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. It's hoped that the same approach might allow screening for other conditions.

#Apple #patent explains automated adjustments of security settings based on user details

A new patent application published today by the United States Patent & Trademark Office #USPTO details a system Apple could use to automatically configure #security and other settings of a device based on its location or the habits of its user. The majority of the patent discusses intelligently adjusting settings by detecting a device's location while using retinal scans, DNA, fingerprints, or other biosensors to present an appropriate level of security to the user.

The patent was originally filed (United States Patent Application: 20140187200) on December 31 2012 before being published today.
